Blepharoplasty (Eyelid Shaping) Macomb Township - Detroit 

As we age there are changes to the skin, muscles, and underlying tissues of the eyelids. A bright, youthful appearance might be replaced by puffiness or a tired look over the years. Contemporary eyelid surgery aims to restore a natural, more youthful appearance to the eyes.

When evaluating a patient for eyelid surgery, we always check for adequate tear formation, visual disturbances, and for proper brow position. Patients with dry eyes should be very cautious when considering eyelid surgery. Be sure to tell your doctor if you suffer from this. A condition called brow ptosis (droop) can cause the upper eyelids to appear saggy. Attempts to correct this problem with eyelid surgery alone will not address the problem.

Upper eyelid surgery hides the incision in the major lid crease. The lower lids can be addressed by hiding an incision hidden on the inner lid surface or one just below the eyelashes. Sometimes a laser or chemical peel is used in conjunction with lower lid surgery in order to tighten the lower lid skin.
